Other Japanese Rock Bands

Being a fan of Japanese music, and a lover of rock music it thrills me to discover new bands with a lot of talent. The way most people in America discover Japanese music and bands is through anime. While this can lead to some great discoveries it yields a limited set of artists. The other popular vein wherein Japanese Rock is discovered is found becuase of the flamboyance of Japanese "Visual Kei" (crazy hair, costumes, makeup) bands. To name some popular bands, Luna Sea, Dir En Grey, L'arc en Ciel, Gackt ect. While these bands do produce some great music (listen to Tetsu play in any L'arc song) they are an over-exposed sub-genre of Japanese Rock. I often go to forums about Japanese rock and am bombarded with the names of the same 10 bands over and over.

Simply put...This is not all that Japanese Rock has to offer.

Here I'm posting a few songs from a couple bands which I've discovered while I've been
in Japan. I hope you
enjoy these. i wish I had a more elegant solution for posting these but you'll have to grab them one by one.

I love this song

My latest discovery is ACIDMAN. I'm really impressed with the songs that come out of this trio. The guitar bass and drums work great together. To keep it short heres a sample song:

Why Spitz Bass Player?

It seems like half the world plays guitar. The sheer number of guitarists is evidenced by the fact that tabs for virtually every song can be found on the internet. However, we bass players are a rarer breed. It can be difficult to find music for the bass guitar...especially when you are looking for foreign music. As a fan of Japanese music...and as one who doesn't particularly enjoy music from so called "visual kei" bands, (which are popular worldwide by people who love Japanese Anime) I find the music available on the internet lacking.Because it is near impossible to find accurate music from Spitz and other bands online, this blog exists. Living in Japan, I have greater access to music from Japanese bands. Using Guitar Pro I have inputted a variety of songs from Spitz and some other bands I enjoy. I'll begin by posting five of my favorite.

keep in mind you'll need guitar pro to access these files.

Enjoy!
